In una delle scalate più impressionanti dell'era alpina moderna, l’alpinista austriaco David Lama è riuscito nell’impresa di conquistare la vetta himalayana del Lunag Ri (6.895 metri) in solitaria, sul confine tra Nepal e Tibet.

Mai nessuno prima era riuscito nell’impresa appena portata a termine da Lama..

Lama ha fatto il suo primo tentativo nel 2015 con la leggenda dell'arrampicata statunitense Conrad Anker.

Solo 300 metri sotto la vetta, il duo ha dovuto tornare indietro dopo un errore tattico.

Lunag Ri - Day 3, Part 1

Good morning Day #3! This was the view from my second bivy just before sunrise. The headwall which you see starts right above my tent. In 2015 Conrad and I got to a point about 100m below from here and in 2016 I climbed by myself to the base of the headwall, but ultimately retreated from there. The headwall until this year had remained the big question mark. It is the steepest part of the climb and no one had ever attempted it, so no one knew how to navigate through. The day before, while climbing along the W-ridge, I spotted a system of corners and ice slabs that provided the biggest chances of climbing up this final wall.
