Photogallery: guarda la sorprendente installazione di papaveri che a Londra ricorda il centenario della Prima Guerra Mondiale

Una distesa di 888.246 papaveri di ceramica è spuntata intorno alla Torre di Londra per ricordare i caduti britannici della Prima Guerra Mondiale.

Il primo è stato piantato ad agosto e l’ultimo lo sarà l’11 novembre: ricorrenza della fine del conflitto e culmine delle commemorazioni, in seguito alla quale l’installazione verrà smantellata.

Autore dell’opera è l’artista della ceramica Paul Cummins, che proprio nei lavori per la sua realizzazione ha subito un grave infortunio alla mano, costatogli l’amputazione del medio e l’uso dell’indice.
