Il Venezuela apre le porte a Edward Snowden. Nicolas Maduro annuncia di aver offerto un ‘‘asilo umanitario’‘ alla talpa del Datagate, per proteggerlo da quella che definisce una “persecuzione scatenata da uno dei governi più potenti del mondo’‘, gli odiati Stati Uniti.

Sono ormai tre i Paesi sudamericani disposti ad accogliere l’ex analista dei servizi statunitensi, bloccato
da 13 giorni nell’aeroporto di Mosca. Dopo il presidente boliviano Evo Morales, anche il nicaraguense Daniel Ortega gli ha offerto protezione. Dalla Casa Bianca arriva un no comment, rimandando ogni dichiarazione al dipartimento di Giustizia.

Il caso Snowden ha incrinato anche i rapporti tra America Latina ed Europa. La Bolivia chiede spiegazioni sulla vicenda dell’aereo del presidente Morales bloccato a Vienna mercoledì notte. Il governo di La Paz ha convocato gli ambasciatori di Italia, Spagna e Francia per avere chiarimenti sulla chiusura degli spazi aerei al sorvolo del velivolo presidenziale nella presunzione che a bordo ci fosse Snowden.
